Cold War Conflicts

Posted by Ian Aveyard on October 1, 2010 at 7:46 AM

Back in June 2008 a report appeared in Wargames Illustrated which included two photographs of '1984' a 28 mm skirmish game set somewhere in Europe between British and Soviet Forces.  I wonder if anyone from SSWG has a battle report of the game, or can remember where the scenery came from etc.

I have recently bought some 'Mongrel Miniatures' figures, which were used in the SSWG game, and are now available fromNewline Designs.  I was very impressed by the range of poses and quality of the designs.  Next I'd like some supporting armour, and would be grateful for  suggestions.  I'm also considering a Falklands Islands scenario, and wonder if there is a compatible range of figures produced by another company.  Any ideas would be welcome.

On the topic of post WW2 conflicts, I have recently seen some helicopters produced by 'New Ray, which (according to the internet include Chinooks, Apaches, and Black Hawks.   Just what range might be available in the UK is not clear - the ones I saw were in a local post-office!  The scales ranged from 1/50th to 1/60th.

Best wishes,

Ian
