Southend Wargames Club Wins - AGAIN!!!!

Southend Wargames Club won 'Best Demonstration Game' at the "Skirmish" Show at Tunbridge in Kent a few weeks back. The Club showed off their latest project in 28mm First World War combat with the highly detailed and period-accurate scenery and miniatures constructed and painted by club members. There was considerable interest in the demonstration from people attending the show and the club was busy chatting to visitors and explaining the rules, the game and the period. We've just about recovered our voices! An expanded version of the game will be taken to Battle Group South at Bovington on July 3rd and 4th this year.

ESSEX EAGLE 2010

After two successful shows affiliated to the International Napoleonic Fair, we have organised an independent event at Hylands House on Sunday 6th June 2010 in cooperation with two local clubs - Essex Warriors from Writtle and S E Essex Military Society. Built in 1730, Hylands House, with its extensive grounds, much frequented by local members of the public should be an ideal venue. It is currently best known for holding the annual “V” festival concerts in August and appearing as the White House in a feature film.

Visit http://www.chelmsford.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=6155 to find out more about the location. Excellent catering facilities, with a permanent restaurant and a small market offering hot and cold local produce, will be available. There is substantial free car parking and entrance to the house is the regular £3.60 (adults), £2.60 (Concessions) with children under 16 are admitted free. There is no additional cost for the show. There are frequent trains to Chelmsford railway station and a First bus service (No.100) passes the gates to the house.

The three host clubs are adopting a D-Day theme for their games although visiting clubs are offering a wide variety of periods, scales and scenarios for the games they plan to demonstrate. Several re-enactment organisations are putting on displays in the grounds - Napoleonic, Second World War and Viking groups will be present.

We now have a full complement of traders, clubs and re-enactors and offer everyone attending our thanks.
